Transatlantic M&A has a measurable relationship with U.K. economic growth. Our analysis finds that every GBP1B of M&A between the U.S. and U.K. corresponds with GBP322M of additional U.K. output in the same quarter. In Q1 2026 alone, that equated to an implied GBP10.5B boost to GDP.
The benefits extend beyond the U.K. In our survey of 811 M&A decision-makers across the U.K., U.S., the Middle East, and Europe, respondents report higher revenues, productivity, and profitability in the two years after a transatlantic transaction.
Dealmakers remain confident in the transatlantic corridor despite rising execution risks. More than half are now modeling longer timelines or higher costs, but confidence remains high over both the short and medium term.
Against a backdrop of trade tensions and heightened screening of foreign investment, these findings reinforce the importance of maintaining this critical cross-border deal channel. Policymakers competing for an M&A capital injection must provide dealmakers with predictable rules, proportionate screening, and the fiscal certainty they need to plan, price, and execute.
